Recipe: Chicken Kiev

Chicken Kiev is a classic dish that originated in Ukraine. It consists of tender chicken breast stuffed with a flavorful garlic butter filling, then breaded and baked or fried until golden and crispy. This dish is perfect for special occasions or when you want to impress your guests with a delicious and elegant meal.

Ingredients:

– 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
– 8 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
– 4 cloves of garlic, minced
– 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
– 1 teaspoon lemon juice
– 1 cup all-purpose flour
– 2 large eggs, beaten
– 2 cups breadcrumbs
– Salt and pepper to taste
– Vegetable oil for frying (optional)

Instructions:

1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) if you choose to bake the chicken instead of frying it.
2. In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
3. Lay the chicken breasts flat on a cutting board. Use a sharp knife to cut a pocket into each chicken breast, being careful not to cut all the way through. The pocket should be large enough to hold the garlic butter filling.
4. Divide the garlic butter mixture into four portions. Stuff each chicken breast with one portion of the mixture, making sure to seal the opening with toothpicks or kitchen twine.
5. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
6. Place the flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs in separate shallow bowls.
7. Dredge each stuffed chicken breast in flour, then dip it into the beaten eggs, and finally coat it with breadcrumbs. Make sure to press the breadcrumbs firmly onto the chicken to ensure a crispy crust.
8. If you choose to fry the chicken, heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry the chicken breasts until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side. Transfer the chicken to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper if you plan to bake it, or serve it immediately if fried.
9. If baking, place the chicken on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the breadcrumbs are golden and crispy.
10. Remove the toothpicks or kitchen twine before serving.
11. Serve the Chicken Kiev hot with your favorite side dish, such as mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables.

This recipe yields 4 servings and takes approximately 45 minutes to cook.

Now you can enjoy the delicious and classic Chicken Kiev in the comfort of your own home. Bon appétit!
