Chinese Beef Noodle Soup: A Hearty and Flavorful Delight

Ingredients:

– 500 grams of beef (preferably shank or brisket), thinly sliced
– 200 grams of dried wheat noodles
– 1 onion, chopped
– 3 cloves of garlic, minced
– 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil
– 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
– 1 tablespoon of dark soy sauce
– 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce
– 1 tablespoon of Shaoxing rice wine
– 1 teaspoon of sugar
– 1 teaspoon of salt
– 1 teaspoon of white pepper
– 1 teaspoon of five-spice powder
– 1 liter of beef broth
– 3 cups of water
– 2 spring onions, chopped
– Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)

Cooking Instructions:

1. In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until fragrant and golden brown.
2. Add the thinly sliced beef to the pot and cook until it changes color and is slightly browned.
3. Stir in the soy sauce, dark soy sauce, oyster sauce, Shaoxing rice wine, sugar, salt, white pepper, and five-spice powder. Mix well to evenly coat the beef.
4. Pour in the beef broth and water, and bring the mixture to a boil. Once it boils, reduce the heat to low and simmer for about 1 to 1.5 hours, or until the beef is tender and flavorful.
5. While the beef is simmering, bring a separate pot of water to a boil. Cook the dried wheat noodles according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
6. Once the beef is tender, taste the soup and adjust the seasoning if necessary.
7. To serve, divide the cooked noodles into individual serving bowls. Ladle the beef soup over the noodles, ensuring each bowl gets a generous amount of broth, beef slices, and onions.
8. Garnish with chopped spring onions and fresh cilantro for added freshness and aroma.
9. Enjoy the Chinese Beef Noodle Soup while it’s hot and flavorful!
